Whilst I think there’s a difference between dash cam and CCTV, my local authority argues that the CCTV policy applies to Dash Cams. Their policy is a WORD document – not even saved it as a PDF – anybody could edit the policy at will. I wonder what qualifications the licensing officer has to inspect the electrical connectivity of my dash cam installation in order to pass it as “Compliant”. I wonder based on what does he decide that it adhears suitably to the glass windscreen, and does not obstruct the driver or passengers view. Can you tell I don’t have much confidence in their “systems and procedures” – yet they have power and dominion over grant or refuse a licence.
