SENDTO Budget Campaign Update

Steph FarrerNews, News 2025

Neil Duncan-Jordan MP Member of Parliament for Poole has written to SENDTO Chair Andy Mahoney regarding the work he’s been doing in Parliament to push for improvements in the provision of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) transport in Poole.

In his letter he said:

"Thank you for previously getting in touch regarding the provision of Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) transport in Poole. I want to take this opportunity to update you on the work I’ve been doing in Parliament to push for improvements in this area.

"Recently, I led a group of 26 MPs in writing to the Minister for School Standards, urging the government to undertake a comprehensive overhaul of the current SEND transport model. In our letter, we highlighted the fact that costs have doubled over the past five years, placing significant strain on both local authorities and families.

"I know how important this issue is for many in our community – particularly for parents, carers, and local transport providers. Ensuring fair compensation for those delivering SEND transport services is vital to maintaining consistent, accessible education for children who rely on it, especially in families on lower incomes."

Thank you once again for raising this important concern with me. I will continue to press the government to take meaningful action and adopt the recommendations we’ve put forward.
