London Assembly Economy Committee Hears from LPHCA Delegation

Steph FarrerNews, News 2019

On Tuesday 12th March a PHV delegation, organised and briefed by the LPHCA, gave evidence to the powerful London Assembly Economy Committee at City Hall London in a session covering a broad range of PHV issues and threats.

The delegation did a fantastic job at giving a wide-ranging representation of our industry and we'd like to say well done to the following people who all gave evidence:

  • Jimmy Lazarou, Crawfords of London
  • Greg Mendoza, Carey Worldwide
  • Anthony Edwards, Brunel Total Ground Transportation
  • Zoe Walsh, GLH
  • Diana Kendall, Kendall Cars
  • Roderick Lynch, developer of specialist wheelchair accessible and stretcher vehicles
  • Robert Welch, smallcarBIGCITY
  • Peter Jamieson, The Driver Guides Association
  • Abu Ashrafuzzaman, a licensed Private Hire driver
  • Sue Flohr MBE, British Dyslexia Association
  • Steve Hall, LCH

Eddie Townson was also due to give evidence but became ill on the way to the meeting. We have since spoken to Eddie and we are pleased to report he is well and recovering, and all the LPHCA Team would like to send our best wishes!

The Economy Committee meeting was split into two parts: firstly, around-table discussion with our panel of trade representatives, which was then followed by a session with TfL (the full webcast can be seen by clicking the video link below).

We would like to say thank you to the members and suppliers who took the time to come along, attend the event and support our panel of industry representatives. Once both sessions had finished, Assembly member Susan Hall, who chaired the event, came up to meet and chat with our contingent and was very complimentary about the dignified behaviour of the representatives from our trade.
