Keynote Speaker Announced for Inaugural National Forum

We are delighted to announce that Professor Mohammed Abdel-Haq will be the keynote speaker for the LPHCA’s first-ever national event.  For anyone who may not be aware of who Professor Abdel-Haq is, he was Chairman of the Task and Finish Group that met at the Department for Transport and published a report on future Taxi & Private Hire Vehicle licensing on 28th September 2018.

Professor Abdel-Haq’s report is now with the Secretary of State for Transport Chris Grayling MP and his Ministers for consideration. We are expecting the government to soon make an announcement on their proposals regarding regulation of Taxi & Private Hire and we believe these proposals could form the basis of future national regulations.

The 2019 LPHCA National Forum, at The Point, Emirates Old Trafford on Thursday 11th April, is a free-to-attend event designed to raise the profile of industry and securing Professor Abdel-Haq as our keynote speaker is both extremely positive, as well as very timely.

In addition, we are also pleased to announce that DEFRA (the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs) will also be doing a presentation at our National Forum and this is equally important and timely as they are heavily involved in air quality action across the UK, in particular the development of a Taxi and Private Hire Vehicle national database.

A regulation has recently been laid in parliament requiring all licensing authorities to provide certain information about Taxis and PHVs that they have licensed.

In addition to these presentations, there will be a panel of industry experts discussing various matters from across the trade. This will be followed by a Q&A session where audience members will have the opportunity to join the debate and share their views.
